In a production we're doing not that far away, we want to use cigarettes. Problem is they're meant to be foreign. Being from the UK, sadly I don't believe Royals, Sovereign, B&H or JPS will exactly substitute for German or Russian cigarettes.
Anyone know if they *do* sell slightly foreign looking brands in the UK? Or whether something like "Malboro" is smoked in Germany or Russia?

Why don't you print out made up packet covers with foreign names such as Le Puff or Kruder And Dorfmeister or Le Royale or Le Sovereigne or Le B&He or Le Malboroe.

Malboros are smoked worldwide, so no problems there. For the authentic look, try getting hold of a few decks of Lucky Strikes, as a lot of the foreigners I've met seem to partial to the odd 'lucky'. They taste almost the same as Malboros too if memory serve me right.
Don't get me wrong there are loads of ciggies available it's just you'll probably get hold of luckies easier for some proper mainland europe fags. Camels are also a very international cig.

umm, if you know of any one who is going to eastern europe then try asking them to get you some, give them ?1 and you should end up with about 5 packets of ciggies. or try something like Navy Cut, or some other filterless cigs, as they tend to look more authentic, than ones with bright orange filters

is this to say that european cigarettes look different to 'normal' cigarettes? i mean you could just get a european ciggie packet and fill them with local ciggies if it's cheaper that way.

umm, basically, Russian, and east/central european cigs used to, i dont know about now, look different. From what i remember most were filterless & had a cardboard tube there instead. Also, they smoke real different, for one thing they are harsher, & you really know your smoking them, something not always obvious with modern cigs.
